Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Anil Kumar B's post on January 22, Now I find that the system likes to check "Hide extensions for known filetypes" occasionally, causing me to have to go back in and uncheck it.. I do not want Windows 8 to change these settings. Also, I do not see the purpose of the section in the Icon Bar uder View that is redundant with the Folder Options dialog.

When a setting is changeable in two places, that introduces more chances for problems. Why did Win 8 or maybe 7 introduce these icon bar settings?

Similarly, the Details view is what Iike to see on every Explorer dialog but even though I clicked Apply to Folders, Win 8 likes to set it back to Large Icons sometimes. More advanced users of Windows who want to keep their files and data under control can turn off "Hide extensions for known file types" File Explorer feature and display file extensions immediately right after new Windows 8.

Another way how to view file extensions in Microsoft Windows 8. Control Panel option. Windows 8. Click on Show hidden files and folders option in Folder Options group. After the changes are saved, you will be able to see the all file extensions in your Microsoft Windows 8.
