Racho goes somewhere one day. And his friends find him. When Racho is found, it becomes a one of a great scientist in the world. It starts off with old friends, Qureshi and Raju Rastogi learning that their college pal, Rancho, had finally been found. The movie follows their travels to find their long lost friend, while flashing back to the events of their school years, where they often got into amusing shenanigans involving the Dean of Delhi's Imperial College of Engineering, Viru Sahastrabudhe, and dealt with some serious events that many people encounter in every day life.
Farhan and Raju find from their biggest college rival Chatur that their missing friend Ranchoddas Rancho has been traced. The trio start their journey to find him where flashback revels Rancho,Raju and Farhan were engineering students and Rancho always believed that a person should be capable rather then being a bookworm and it will be way to success.
He always got in tiff with Chatur and college director Viru Sahastrabuddhe Virus but fell in love with his daughter Pia. Things were going fine for them as they also cleared their first year exams in present day they reach house of Rancho where they find his father has passed away and the person who claims to be Rancho is someone else.
When the trio find out that where is rancho? They immediately rush to his house. But got shocked after seeing it's not the one who they are expecting it's someone else. The real Rancho. The trio threatened him to tell where is their friend. Finally they found rancho Amir Khan. And he was living in a lakeside.
So he decided to deliberately modify the final exams so that no one could graduate including Raju. Because of that Pia decided to give Rancho the key to Virus' office to steal the exam papers.
Soon after, Virus caught them and since he was angry with them for stealing the question papers, Virus expelled Rancho, but since Rancho used his engineering knowledge to help deliver Mona Pia's sister baby during a power cut due to heavy storm, Rancho was then considered an extraordinary student. Raju finally lives in a home, happy and married. Raju woke up in the morning, forgetting his pants reuniting Rancho in the college watertower though Rancho could not be found.
After months of searching, Raju among with everyone finally found Rancho in sandbar in Ladakh after discovering Rancho's school. Pia V. Sahastrabudhhe : [ Now that everyone knows, Rancho's real surname is not Chhanchhad ] Thank God, after marriage my name wont be Pia Chhanchhad! Raju Rastogi : So what is your actual name? Rancho : Phunsukh Wangdu.
Farhan Qureshi : What? Sahastrabudhhe : [ Thinking of her future name ] Pia Wangdu? Farhan Qureshi : Phunsukh Wangdu? Silencer's Phunsukh Wangdu? Sahastrabudhhe : I don't want to be named Pia Wangdu!
Sahastrabudhhe : Can I keep my name after marriage? Raju Rastogi : [ a drunk Raju stands up from the last bench of class Viru Sahastrabudhhe : How does an induction motor start?
Raju Rastogi : [ Raju looks around smilingly and then shouts ] Vrrrrommmmmm. Raju Rastogi : Sir, I have learnt to stand up on my feet after having broken both my legs. This attitude has come with great difficulty. No sir, I can't. You may keep your job, and let me keep my attitude. Raju Rastogi : There's something going on between you both omg I want sex so badly uh uuh uuuuhhhh.
